Meet the French & Spanish Traveler
Valerie Sutter, founder and director of The French Traveler, Inc. holds a Master’s degree from the Faculté de Lettres de Lyon and another from Lesley College in Cambridge, MA. She lived for five years in France where she taught English at one of France’s grandes écoles, and for twelve years in Brazil, where she taught French and European History at the American School of Rio de Janeiro, while directing their International Baccalaureate Program. In the US, she taught English at Jersey Village High School in Houston and French at Phillips Exeter Academy in NH and The Fessenden School in MA. Fluent in French and in Portuguese with a modest grasp of Spanish, Valerie is passionate about cultural acquisition and language immersion as the means of knowing and understanding another culture, another world. She currently spends many months of the year in France imbibing French culture and planning her next workshops for teachers as well as trips for other Francophiles. When in the United States, she channels her energies into running The French Traveler and advancing Francophile causes. |
